Pairs
Cards Used
Pairs (also known as Memory or Concentration) is played with a standard 52-card deck. It can be played by 2 or more players. All cards are used to create matching pairs based on their rank.
Aim of the Game
The aim of Pairs is to collect more matching pairs than the other players by remembering the locations of cards that have been turned over during the game.
Point Scoring
Players score 1 point for each pair they successfully match and collect. At the end of the game, when all pairs have been found, the player with the most pairs wins.
How to Deal
Shuffle the deck thoroughly and spread all 52 cards face down on the table in a grid or rows. Ensure that all cards are evenly spaced and that no player can see their faces.
Gameplay
- 1
Players take turns turning over two cards of their choice. If the two cards have the same rank (for example, two 6s or two Queens), the player keeps the pair, scores 1 point, and takes another turn.
- 2
If the cards do not match, they are turned face down again in the same positions, and play passes to the next player.
- 3
As the game progresses, players must remember the locations of previously revealed cards to improve their chances of making a match.
- 4
The game ends when all 26 pairs have been collected. The player with the most pairs is declared the winner.
